Governors
Governors are the largest volunteer force in the county and have an important part to play in raising school standards through their three key roles of setting strategic direction, ensuring accountability and monitoring and evaluating school performance.
The Governing Body
We are fortunate to have an active and committed group of Governors who meet regularly to monitor and discuss the direction of school improvement. One third of the Governing Body is made up of parent governors meaning all parents in school have the opportunity to stand for election as parent governors as and when a vacancy arises and to take part in the voting process. The minutes of every governing body meeting are always available to read in the Governing Body Meeting Minutes file just outside the school office.

Governors are responsible for setting the school’s policies, monitoring and evaluating the school’s performance, ensuring accountability, approving the budget, and making the key decisions that guide the running of the school. They work closely with the Head Teacher.
Some key areas are outside of the Governors’ remit such as the admission of pupils to the school which is controlled by Bradford Council.
The Governance of the school is split up into committees that have specific remits in the management of the school. Over time, Governors often take up different roles and learn more about the school and contribute in different ways. The committees cover Curriculum, Personnel, Finance and School Improvement.
A Governor is often referred to as a “critical friend”, offering support to the staff and Headteacher whilst aiming for continuous improvement.
